How do I enter the Farming Awards?
Join the growing band of Farmers Weekly Award winners championing best practice and flying the flag for the industry. Entering the Farming Awards is easy – simply complete the entry form (available from the 4th of February), but make sure that you explain your achievements in the following five key areas:
Business: innovation and achievement
Judges are looking for evidence of business growth, cost management, innovation and collaboration. Best use of resources is important – be it people, location or infrastructure
Production/efficiency
What are your methods, management and approach to delivering high quality
products or services at least cost. Maximising the potential of your natural assets, use of new technology, staff management and training are of interest.
Marketing
Marketing strategies that reap rewards are what we are after. So how do you sell your produce, or services, and how do you secure market outlets, or add value? Evidence of close relationships with buyers and customers will help as well as collaboration with other farmers or processors.
Social responsibility: environment/legislation/public/staff
The judges will be keen to see initiatives and plans to boost biodiversity, protect natural resources, meet legislative demands, educating the public and engaging with the local community.
Leadership: what’s your vision?
Farming needs visionaries – are you one of them? Can your business plan and your management deliver something new for the future? The judges want to know what steps you are putting in place to help your staff achieve that.
